In an interview with Crain’s NY, RF Resources President, Robert Fligel, CPA, offers insight as to how mergers help smaller fish compete in an environment that favors larger accounting firms. According to his analysis, Fligel shares that approximately 1 in 3 NY Metro area CPA firms would be changing hands in the next five years, creating what some call a “merger mania”.
That in mind, Fligel cautions firms to have done their due diligence before taking action. “It’s tough competing here [in NY],” he said. “It’s critical for today’s companies to have good advisers, good attorneys, good facilitators and good brokers, which means people who have done these kinds of transactions in their industry before.”
